Hosting COP29 in Baku is a manifestation of confidence shown to Azerbaijan - Malaysian official 

“Hosting such an important global event as COP29 in Baku is a manifestation of the great confidence shown to Azerbaijan,” said President of the Senate of the Malaysian Parliament Datuk Mutang Tagal as he met with Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova on the sidelines of the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku.

During the meeting, the sides highlighted the importance of the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue themed “Dialogue for Peace and Global Security: Cooperation and Interconnectivity.”

The two exchanged views on developing relations between Azerbaijan and Malaysia. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova noted that last year marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. She underscored the cooperation in various domains, which creates a solid foundation for further development of relations between the two countries.

The Speaker underlined that the two countries collaborate, and support each other within international organizations, including the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement. She noted that the two parliaments’ mutual activity positively affects the development of relations between the two countries.

Hailing the excellent organization of the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, President of the Senate of the Malaysian Parliament stated that his country attaches vital importance to the development of relations with Azerbaijan, adding that there are good opportunities for further expansion of relations between the two countries in a number of spheres.

During the conversation, Mutang Tagal emphasized his country’s interest in further expansion of dialogue and cooperation between the two countries’ legislative authorities. He expressed his confidence that the reciprocal visits would contribute to this direction.

The parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
